Professionalism and honesty are desirable qualities in any working relationship. It was the abundance of these qualities that first attracted Jim Draycott to Rickard Keen.

Jim was in the process of engaging an accountancy firm around five years ago, and had heard about Rickard Keen from a friend. Of the three practices Jim met with, Rickard Keen stood out as the firm Jim wanted to continue with. “Everything they said was truthful,” says Jim, “so we decided to carry on with them. They came across as being extremely professional.”

Jim is the owner and director of W & H Engineering Limited, a Leighon- Sea based manufacturer of sheet metal. The company was established in 1969 by Jim’s former father-inlaw, from whom he bought W & H Engineering in 1980. He now employs 40 people and supplies sheet metal products to a range of large UK and European firms including telecommunications companies, airconditioning firms and hospitals.

Rickard Keen provides a full range of accounting solutions to the firm, as well as ad hoc advice on many issues such as purchasing and taxation. According to Jim, Noel Kelleway provides a conscientious service.

“If he’s not around when I call, he’ll phone back as soon as he can, or even come out to see me within 48 hours if I need him to. He’s fantastic to work with, and I’ll be able to continue working with him for at least the next few years hopefully. After that, Rickard Keen have currently got a great team, and are bringing people into line that are of the same high quality as Noel.”

When Jim divorced five years ago, financial arrangements had to be made to ensure proper settlement of assets between him and his exwife. Rickard Keen were in continual contact over the telephone to ensure Jim was supported properly during this time.

“They really stuck with me when times got rough, and it’s not often you can say that. In fact, the banking company I was previously with just walked away. That can be expected to some extent with banks, as they are happy to stick around during the good times. Noel introduced me to Barclays at that time, who I have been with since and have been fantastic. He helped me get everything in order, including setting up the appropriate payments.
