Prospects Learning Foundation
Neil Bates is the Group Chief Executive of the Prospects Learning Foundation, a registered charity that sponsors a school. “It’s not exactly an academy, but the approach is the same,” says Mr Bates.
Prospects Learning Foundation takes pride in its relationships with local suppliers. “We prefer to work with local organisations,” explains Mr Bates, “as we believe in working with the local community.”
This approach has enabled the foundation to develop a long-term relationship with Rickard Keen; forged through a close association that has been in place ever since the charity was founded in 1969.
“Rickard Keen is a local firm, and is smaller than the London practices,” says Mr Bates, “so the team there really understands our charity and takes an interest in the business we are involved in.”
Rickard Keen has always acted as the auditors for Prospects Learning Foundation and, since the 1970s, a senior partner at the firm has been a financial advisor on the charity’s non-executive board of trustees.
In addition, the accountants have helped develop the foundation’s business strategy, advising on capital projects and how to plan them. At one time, Rickard Keen also provided an outsourced payroll service, but this is now dealt with in-house.
“The team at Rickard Keen is extremely professional, and has supported us in the development of the foundation,” says Mr Bates.
Consequently, he has recommended the firm to numerous other organisations. “I have confidence in their professional ability and expertise, and sense that they are there for the long term”.
