Careers - Interested in Accountancy?

Every year we actively recruit young people who want to train as accountants. You may have just finished A levels or your degree, or hold an AAT qualification. Regardless of where you start the process, our aim is that you will finish as a qualified Chartered Accountant. From our point of view, the most important criteria are that you want to work at MGI Rickard Keen and add to its business – not just at a “Chartered Accountancy practice where you can train!”

MGI Rickard Keen is a very broadly based practice and your work here will expose you to a wide range of clients and equip you with the accountancy skills that are needed by modern businesses. Of course, you will need to be naturally numerate, but you should also be interested in how businesses work, be able to problem solve and, ultimately offer clients advice on how to grow their business. All this as well as being able to work efficiently and professionally for MGI Rickard Keen.

Careers - Qualification Routes

Academic Entry Requirements

What qualifications will I train for?

Joining from A level, you will initially study for the AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) exams which are taken in three stages – foundation, intermediate and technician. You will then start studying for the ACA exams and, subject to passing a “top up” exam, you will qualify for certain exemptions within the professional stage examinations.

If you begin as a graduate you will study for the ACA exams, which are in two parts; six professional exams followed by an advanced stage (dependent on your degree you may qualify for exemptions)

You will also have to pass devolved assessments in Company and Commercial Law.

How long does all this training take?

How soon after commencement employment does the training start?

AAT training starts within the first few weeks of your joining us

ACA training starts after around 4 months of your joining us. This gives us, and you, time to see how a career in accountancy is going to work out.

For more in-depth information on the AAT qualification you should browse their website on www.aat.org.uk and for ACA browse www.icaew.co.uk Keep looking at this site for more information on MGI Rickard Keen.

Careers - Why train at Rickard Keen?

As a small to medium sized firm, MGI Rickard Keen can offer a variety of work experience. You will not be trained in one particular department, e.g., audit, like many of the larger firms. Instead you will be given the opportunity to gain a more diverse range of skill and experience by working in all areas relevant to the qualification you are studying for, e.g., audit, accounts, tax, management accounts and company secretarial matters.

MGI Rickard Keen offers all its team an excellent financial package and working environment. Those studying for AAT/ACA have their training costs and travel expenses to/from our London based tutors met. Exam fees are covered and you will also be given paid study leave.

We believe that the supportive environment we offer is probably the best in the area.

If you have got what it takes to gain one of the training opportunities at MGI Rickard Keen e-mail us and let us know! Penny at pw@rickardkeen.co.uk is waiting to hear from you!
